Stellenbosch Ride and Wine Tour
Join us for a day of exploring Stellenbosch and visiting wine estates – on two wheels! Our tour follows a mostly-flat, paved route and is suitable for all fitness levels. Guests choose between our town bikes or mountains bikes and enjoy a scenic cruise through residential Stellenbosch and the historic centre before visiting stunning wine estates for a cellar tour and wide range of tastings. Choose from our guided tour starting from Ride in at 8:30am, or the self-guided option and take the tour at your own pace!
We offer guided Wine Tours 5 days a week (Tuesday - Saturday)
Tour includes Bike rental with helmet.
The tour starts with meeting at 9am on Drostdy Road outside the Moedergemeente (The main Mother Church).
The tour cost R900 pp and includes 3 wine tastings, Lanzerac, Glenelly, Bartinney (with the option of adding a 4th and a gin tasting at Montegray at an extra cost). Water and a snack.
The tour is around 13km and requires a moderate fitness level or the use of Ebike (electric bike).
We will weave our way through the beautiful streets of Stellenbosch pointing out some historical sites and up to Lanzerac Wine Estate for our first tasting. Lanzerac, which is steeped in a history dating back to 1692, the 326 year old estate is synonymous with old-world charm and rich Cape heritage.
After this we shall ride on to Glenelly Wine Estate which is renowned for its French touch in its wines and also has a privately owned glass collection which is well worth taking a look at. Once we have soaked up the beautiful views and finished the tasting, we shall ride back to town to Bartinney Wine Bar where we shall do our 3rd tasting.
Bartinney wine farm is set on the dramatic slopes of Botmaskop alongside the Helshoogte Pass overlooking the picturesque Banhoek Valley in Stellenbosch and although it is well worth a visit to the actual farm and tasting shed, by bike it is really a challenge. This makes their wine bar in town a perfect finishing place for your tour.
From the wine bar on the corner of Bird and Dorp Street, you can relax and experience the Stellenbosch street atmosphere. The wine bar has a delicious selection of tapas AND another wine bar and gin tasting right next door, called Montegray.
Self-guided tours include bike rental with helmets, water, snack, route map and vouchers for 3 tastings, we can also provide you with a google link for your phone which will give you all the directions you need.
Please note the self-guided option does not include the guide. Depart at your leisure, and return bikes anytime before 4pm (same day).
Is half a day just not enough? Would you like your tour to include gourmet meals, chocolate pairings, and more?
