Just 45 minutes from Cape Town, this charming town offers endless riding through stunning mountain and vineyard landscapes, made famous by prestigious events like Cape Epic and the UCI XCO World Cup.  With incredible weather, ample training facilities, and great food, it’s no wonder Stellenbosch has become a leading training and active vacation destination for athletes from all over the world.

Our week-long mountain bike experiences offer daily guided riding each morning with afternoons to relax and enjoy the sights.  Opportunities abound for wine tasting, hiking, shopping, and more.  Guests stay at a farm-based guesthouse in the Jonkershoek valley, where healthy breakfasts and delicious dinners are served on the mountain-view patio.

PACKAGE INCLUSIONS

  • 6 nights’ accommodation at Ride In Guest House based on double occupancy
  • Meal package of 2 meals per day as follows:
    • Daily breakfasts at our vibrant, farm-based cafe
    • 4 dinners on our mountain-view terrace included, with 2 evenings free to enjoy Stellenbosch restaurants
    • 2 lunches included on days when dinner is on your own
  • Airport transfers on arrival/departure, transfers to included activities
  • Small guided group rides at famous trail networks in the Stellenbosch areas and beyond

ITINERARY

DAY 1 - SATURDAY

  • Pick up from Cape Town Airport and transfer to Ride In guest house for check in
  • Rental bike collection and set up (if renting a bike) or bike build
  • Welcome reception, dinner and wine tasting at Ride In, program briefing

DAY 2 - SUNDAY

  • Breakfast at Ride In Cafe (included)
  • Ride briefing
  • Guided mountain bike ride through Jonkershoek nature reserve (part of 2019 Cape Epic)
  • Free time for lunch and afternoon free to explore and shop in Stellenbosch
  • Dinner at Ride In (included) and evening at leisure

DAY 3 - MONDAY

  • Breakfast at Ride In Cafe (included)
  • Ride briefing
  • Guided mountain bike ride around G-spot, Eden, Mont Marie (part of 2019 cape epic)
  • Lunch at leisure
  • Guided waterfall hike, 2-3 hours return (optional, or afternoon at leisure)
  • Dinner at Ride In (included) and evening at leisure

DAY 4 - TUESDAY

  • Breakfast at Ride In Cafe (included)
  • Ride briefing and transfer to trails
  • Guided mountain bike ride at Wild Boar trails in Wellington
  • Free time for lunch at Spice Route in Paarl (including one glass of wine/beer/soft drinks)
  • Return to Ride In, dinner and evening at leisure at Stellenbosch (not included)

DAY 5 - WEDNESDAY

  • Breakfast at Ride In Cafe (included)
  • Ride briefing and transfer to trailhead
  • Guided mountain bike ride at Bottelary Hills
  • Free time for lunch in Stellenbosch (not included)
  • Traditional braai dinner (barbeque) at Ride In

DAY 6 - THURSDAY

  • Breakfast at Ride In Cafe (included)
  • Ride briefing
  • Easy ride to Villiera
  • 2-hour game drive at Villiera with wine tasting
  • Lunch at Joostenberg farm
  • Return to Stellenbosch by bike
  • Dinner at own leisure in Stellenbosch (not included)

DAY 7 - FRIDAY

  • Breakfast at Ride In Cafe (included)
  • Ride briefing
  • Guided mountain bike ride at Boschendal
  • Return to Ride In, check out
  • Farewell lunch at Ride In (included)
  • Transfer to Cape Town International Airport or Central Capetown

Group pricing - Groups of 6-8 can book a private camp with discount pricing.

RIDER skills and fitness requirements

Riders joining our camps must be confident intermediate (blue) riders,
with adequate fitness to complete daily rides of approx. 3-4 hours. For a description of
intermediate riding skills, please click here. Riders are welcome to take days off riding if more
recovery time is needed.
Group Experiences - When booking a private (closed) group, we can cater the length and
difficulty of the ride to your group’s preferences and fitness level. Please specify at the time of
booking.

EQUIPMENT

Mountain Bikes - Riders will need a mountain bike and helmet in good working order.
Don’t want the hassle and expense of flying with your bike? Rent one from us! Our dual-suspension
rental bikes come with helmets and pedals of your choice. Please book early to guarantee your
size.
Our preferred weekly rental rates for participants is R2400.

GUEST HOUSE ACCOMMODATION

Riders will be accommodated in our 4-bedroom farm-based guesthouse, with communal living and socializing areas.
The guesthouse is perfectly located halfway between central Stellenbosch and the Jonkershoek nature reserve,
in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains and vineyards.

Prices are based on double occupancy, with upgrades available.
